Quality Assurance Policy Framework 2026–2027
The policy behind every review.
Version 1.0, approved by the University Council and the Vice-Chancellor, effective 1 September 2026, reviewed every July.

Policy statements
Six commitments.
Commitment to quality
Quality assurance is a shared institutional responsibility. Everyone, from senior leadership to frontline staff, has a role in upholding it.
Independence of CQAD
No school, directorate or individual may obstruct, interfere with or unduly influence a quality audit, review or compliance assessment.
Transparency and accountability
Audit findings, self-assessment outcomes and corrective action plans are documented, communicated and tracked to completion.
Continuous improvement
Quality assurance is an ongoing cycle of self-reflection, assessment, action and review, not a one-time compliance exercise.
Student-centredness
Student welfare, learning outcomes and experience are central. Student voices are meaningfully incorporated through structured feedback.
GTEC alignment
The University is committed to full compliance with GTEC standards, regulations and directives. CQAD is the focal point for all GTEC quality matters.
The four pillars
How the Framework is organised.
Academic Benchmarking
Curriculum review, teaching excellence and school-specific academic interfaces.
IIRegulatory Compliance
The GTEC Compliance Register, accreditation management and administrative compliance.
IIIStudent Experience
The student feedback architecture, the Dean of Students interface and CCSD quality standards.
IVOperational Audits
The Internal Quality Audit Programme, corrective action plans and support-service audits.
Monitoring & evaluation
Key performance indicators.
CQAD maintains an Institutional M&E Framework aligned with the Strategic Plan and GTEC. Every directorate and school reports quarterly, and the results form a termly Institutional Quality Dashboard reviewed by the Vice-Chancellor.
| Domain | Indicators |
|---|---|
| Academic quality | Accreditation status; pass rates; thesis completion (SGSR); staff-to-student ratios |
| Student experience | Satisfaction index; complaint resolution; counselling access; graduation rate |
| Compliance | GTEC directives actioned within 60 days; renewals on schedule; annual returns on time |
| Operational | Audit completion; CAP implementation; library collection currency; IT uptime |
| Staff quality | Academic staff with terminal qualifications; development hours per year |
Review & amendment
Keeping the policy current.
The Framework is reviewed every July by CQAD with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and key stakeholders, then submitted to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Council. An unscheduled review follows a significant change in GTEC regulation, a major restructuring, or findings from an external audit.
Amending the Framework
- Proposed in writing by the Director of CQAD, a Dean or the Vice-Chancellor.
- Reviewed by the CQAD Director and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
- Approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
- Ratified by the University Council for substantive changes.
- Communicated to all stakeholders within 30 days of approval.
